Build log · Part 3

Every part, built and tested.

September 2026. The design is done, and the table is built like a piece of furniture.

A studio render of the finished FLATBOY design, September 2026

On 5 September I felt we had everything on the Flatboy right. The design was finally ready. Every part built and tested.

I made some pictures to show it. First I tried a cosy evening at home with warm light. Didn’t like it. Went for studio pictures with the focus on the table instead.

8 September. Back to basics! (PS: not AI)

For me it’s important that it’s built like a piece of furniture. Something you can leave out in the living room. Made with love, in Norway.

The walnut has a medium matte lacquer. No screws through the top, because people will pull and push on it. The flipper buttons sit flush with the side and follow the bend.

23 September. OCD helps…

On 20 September Flatboy v1 was finished and running.

Not every evening goes well. The same morning I messed everything up on the CNC when I tried to adjust it. So out to the garage for a test milling.

When people see it, they don’t ask who made it. They think it’s something from a shop, not a prototype. And they’re surprised how fun the games are.

Next: part 4, the games.
