Midnight sun. The harbour town becomes a stadium.
Every summer, when the midnight sun hangs over Solvik Island, the harbour town becomes a stadium. Eight island nations, twelve champions, one flame: the Sunfield Games. No real countries, no real flags, no famous names. Just people like Amara, the ferry deckhand who sprints the gangway twice a day, and Signe, the harbour master's accountant: calm, exact, and terrifying on the range.
The day runs from the dash in the stadium in the morning to the lagoon at midday, a dive off the pier's watchtower in the afternoon, a relay at sunset and the Skyshot range on the cliffs at dusk, under the floodlights. Every event starts with its card: three steps, and the record to beat.
