The first table.

June 2026. A screen set into walnut, four buttons a side, and a lot of changes after.

The first FLATBOY table in the workshop, June 2026

In June the first table came together. On 17 June I set the screen into the walnut for the first time. Flatboy was taking shape.

17 June. The screen in the walnut for the first time.

From the side it looked like a giant handheld 😂

The edge and the corners, close up.

The frame around the screen is inspired by the old tube TVs. I wanted those corners, but with my own profile, and thin. It took a few tries in June before it fit.

Under each stick there’s a ring, and I wanted one line on it, exactly like this:

Little by little.

The first table had four buttons a side.

A lot changed after this one. Four buttons a side became six, a bit closer together. In September I added flipper buttons on both sides for the flipper games, and they had to sit flush. Then the spinner. I changed my mind on that one: it had to be 100% walnut.
